Terry Underwood Obituary

NOTE UPDATE FOR LIFE CELEBRATION SERVICE TIME-

Terrence Alan “Terry” Underwood, 65, of Belding, passed away on Monday February 26, 2024, at home.
Terry was born on July 1, 1958, in Belding, the son of Frank and Barbara (Hoisington) Underwood. He attended Belding High School and worked many years at Rayborn Hardware, both as a teenager and an adult.  Over the years he worked at the old Belding Hospital, RJ Tower Automotive, Federal Mogul and Northland Refrigeration, he enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, even teaching his son and granddaughter to ride both! He was an avid football fan and never missed a Belding Football game.

Most of all though he was known for his snowmobile knowledge. For over 40 years he owned and operated Underwood Snowmobile Salvage. Terry was a snowmobile legend; he was well known inside and outside of Michigan for his snowmobile technical skills and helping others find parts.  If you needed advice, a part to fix a special snowmobile or an engine to be repaired, Terry was your go to professional.  His skills were truly world class, and he was one of the best in his craft.  Often, people and companies would bring in broken lawn equipment they needed back in-service quickly.  Terry was always willing to drop everything to help them because he cared about people.  Many times, never charging anything.  Terry was more than just a friend, he was a brother, and a mentor in the snowmobile community. He lived his life by his own rules.  His infectious spirit touched the lives of many. He was not just a husband and a devoted father.  He was a good and loyal friend. Terry was responsible for bringing many people together, and it was because of him that the snowmobile community is so close knit. He had a special way of connecting with people. He was the glue that held everyone together. He had a lighthearted energy and could always make you laugh. He was always there to lend a helping hand or offer his words of wisdom. He never hesitated to go above and beyond those he cared about.

One of Terry’s friends said it best “Terry was a pillar of strength and a role model for many. We are all grateful for the impact he had on our lives, and I will cherish the memories we have shared with him. Let us keep his spirit alive by continuing to come together and support each other. Terry will be missed, but his memory will live on forever in our hearts.”

Terry was a loving husband, as well as a devoted and beloved father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed.

Terry is loved and survived by his wife of 37 years, Lori Underwood, his son; Daniel (Vicki) Underwood, daughter; Kendra Ehle Mosqueda, his grandchildren; Kaitlynne Underwood, Alexis Underwood, Moses Mosqueda, Michael Mosqueda, his sister Glenda Underwood, along with many other extended family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Randy Underwood

There will be a life celebration for Terry on Sunday, May 26 from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Central Riverside Park in Belding, Michigan. The family welcomes friends of Terry to this special time of meeting together.
